Namibia's largest dam, Hardap offers boating, fishing, game viewing and excellent birdlife on its shores near Mariental.
Hardap Dam, Namibia's largest water reservoir, lies just north of Mariental amid semi-arid plains, its vast blue surface a striking contrast to the surrounding desert landscape. The recreation resort offers boating and fishing for freshwater species like catfish and carp, plus a small game park stocked with giraffe, oryx, springbok and mountain zebra. It is also a haven for water birds, including pelicans, flamingos and fish eagles, drawn to the reservoir's abundant shallows.
