Zambezi River floodplain opposite Mana Pools, celebrated for canoe safaris, elephant river crossings and ferocious tiger fishing.

Lower Zambezi National Park occupies a wild stretch of floodplain directly across the Zambezi River from Zimbabwe's Mana Pools, framed by a dramatic escarpment and dotted with ancient winterthorn and ebony trees. It is one of the few places in Africa where canoe safaris are a signature activity, gliding silently past pods of hippo, basking crocodiles and elephant herds that wade out to mid-river islands. The river itself is renowned among anglers for ferocious tiger fishing, while game drives and walking safaris reveal lion, leopard and buffalo in a setting far less visited than its neighbors.
This is wild, low-key Zambezi wilderness at its most authentic.
