A UNESCO World Heritage wilderness on the Zambezi floodplain, celebrated for walking safaris and canoe trails among elephant, hippo and crocodile.

Strung along the Zambezi's floodplain beneath the Zambian escarpment, Mana Pools is a UNESCO World Heritage wilderness of ana-tree forests, ox-bow lagoons and game-rich sandbanks. It is one of the few parks in Africa where walking safaris on foot among elephant, buffalo and lion are permitted without a vehicle nearby, and canoeing the Zambezi's channels brings paddlers eye to eye with hippo and crocodile. The dry-season gathering of wildlife along the riverbank is among the most dramatic in Southern Africa.
