Baobab-studded Tarangire holds the largest elephant concentration in northern Tanzania, especially along its namesake river in the dry season.

Tarangire National Park is defined by its ancient, swollen baobab trees and by the Tarangire River, which draws the largest concentration of elephants found anywhere in northern Tanzania during the dry season. Herds of several hundred elephants gather at the riverbanks alongside buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and giraffe, while the park's swamps and grasslands support over 550 recorded bird species. Quieter and less visited than the Serengeti, Tarangire offers a wilder, more intimate safari experience amid some of Africa's most photogenic landscapes.
